Using the Intel® SCS with SSD Pro Series Plug-in to Manage Your Drives

This section describes how to use the Intel SCS with SSD Pro Series Plug-in to

discover the Intel SSD Pro 1500 Series drives in your enterprise environment,

configure them, and gather relevant SMART data from them to assess drive health.

Intel SCS Solution Discovery

Intel SCS Solution Discovery allows you to perform discovery on each client and

report back any Intel SCS compatible feature sets (i.e., plug-ins) that are present in

that client’s Intel SCS framework. This allows you to target specific feature sets and

capabilities for client management actions such as firmware updates. For example,

you could use the solution discovery process to develop a list of clients that have the

Intel SCS with SSD Pro Series Plug-in on them and target only those clients for an

SSD firmware update.

To use the Intel SCS Solution Discovery, do the following:

1. Copy the SCS-SolutionDiscovery.ps1 script from the

\IntelSCS\Solutions_Framework\Scripts directory to a network share that is

accessible from your clients.

2. Execute the script with the –publish switch and specify the FQDN of your server

running the RCS database, as shown below:

.\SCS-SolutionDiscovery –publish scs-server.fqdn.com

NOTE: The command line example above assumes the account running

Windows PowerShell has access to the RCS server. You can optionally specify a

Windows PowerShell credential with the –Credential switch for the script if

needed.

3. After the script has been run, look for an entry for your client in the RCS

database. You can then view the discovery data for the client and see the

entries for the Intel SSD Pro drive.
